Inside the book

Everything you need, nothing you don't

No theory dumps. Each chapter gives you one decision to make and a rule for making it — the same way you'd trade the open.

01

The four-indicator system

SuperTrend, RSI, Pivots, and Bollinger Bands — four independent questions, not the same signal repeated. Each one built from the ground up.

02

Beating theta

Why option buyers really lose — time decay, not wrong direction — and how to enter only when the move is strong enough to outrun it.

03

The five-step framework

The exact checklist for Call and Put entries. All four conditions TRUE or you stay out — plus the SuperTrend trailing exit.

04

Proven across 8 markets

5,015 backtested trades over ~10 years, from NIFTY to Bitcoin — with the maths behind why a sub-50% win rate still profits.

Questions, answered

Option buying — the questions everyone asks

Straight answers to what Indian option buyers search for most, drawn from the same rule-based framework taught in the book.

Why do most option buyers lose money?
Most option buyers lose because of theta — the time decay built into every option — not because they pick the wrong direction. A correct but slow move can still lose money as the premium erodes each day. The fix is to enter only when a move is strong and fast enough to outrun time decay, and to exit the moment that strength fades.
Is option buying profitable?
Option buying can be profitable, but profitability comes from your payoff ratio, not your win rate. In testing across 8 markets and 5,015 trades, win rates stayed below 50% yet every market was net profitable, because winners were 1.5 to 1.8 times larger than losers. That said, F&O trading carries a high risk of losing your entire capital, and backtests do not guarantee future results.
What is the best timeframe for intraday option buying?
The 3-minute chart is the sweet spot for intraday option buying. One-minute charts produce too many false signals and whipsaw you; fifteen-minute charts confirm too late, after the easy move is gone. Three minutes carries enough data to be meaningful while keeping most trades inside a 10 to 60 minute window, where time decay is nearly invisible.
Which indicators are best for buying options?
Use four indicators that each answer a different question, rather than several that repeat the same signal. SuperTrend gives direction, RSI measures momentum strength, Pivot Points confirm whether a breakout has cleared structure, and Bollinger Bands flag a statistically rare candle as the entry trigger. When all four agree you get four independent confirmations, not one signal four times.
How much capital do I need to start buying options in India?
A practical minimum is around ₹50,000 for one lot of NIFTY call or put buying. Just as important as capital is risk per trade: risking only 1 to 2 percent — roughly ₹500 to ₹1,000 on a ₹50,000 account — is what lets a small account survive the inevitable run of small losses before the bigger winners arrive. Your broker's margin requirements and your own risk tolerance should set your real numbers.
What is theta in options trading?
Theta is the rate at which an option loses value as time passes — the time decay that works against every option buyer. Even if the underlying price stays flat, the option is worth slightly less tomorrow than today, and less still the day after. For buyers, theta is the real opponent, which is why fast, strong moves matter more than simply being right about direction.
Is option buying or option selling better for beginners?
Neither is universally better — they suit different conditions. Option sellers profit in calm, range-bound markets where time decay works for them, but face large, open-ended risk. Option buyers have limited, defined risk and profit from fast, strong moves, but fight time decay every day. A beginner's choice should rest on capital, risk tolerance and temperament, and all derivatives trading carries substantial risk.
Do I need to automate an option-buying strategy?
Automation becomes necessary because the system runs on candle closes — about 75 a day, or more than 18,000 a year for a single instrument. No human can monitor that many decision points without missing signals or letting emotion creep in. Learning the rules manually first builds understanding; automating them afterwards is what makes the approach sustainable for a real life.
